Page name and primary topic disambiguation[edit]

I recently came across this and saw that the Australia island was given primary topic status. In looking over what was available about them, it seems both the Australia and Michigan islands are small, uninhabited islands. I had never heard of the Australia island and didn't see anything blindling obvious as to why it should have primary topic status -- so I moved the australia page to Granite Island (Australia) and made Granite Island into a diambiguation. Diceman disagrees and feels the Aus. island is a popular tourist detination. Perhaps so. I was unaware of this and as I said, it was not very obvious from either the page content or a quick Google search. In fact, Google shows 27,770 results for "Granite Island" Australia -wikipedia and 34,300 results for "Granite Island" Michigan -wikipedia. Now, I don't feel that strongly about the Michigan island beeing so very notable, so if there is a consensus that the Aus. island should have primary topic status, that's fine. But the article should be moved properly with along with it's edit history and not simply cut and pasted. olderwiser 14:35, 9 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

27,770 results for an island in a country with 1/15th the population of the U.S. would make it a pretty popular result per capita. I would also like to note that the Australian page was added 11 months earlier. In terms of raw numbers slightly more people will be looking for the Michigan page than the Australian one so I shall have to avenge the Petrol fiasco elsewhere. I'll put my flip-flop on the gas and drive stick-shift on the wrong side of the road outta here. - Diceman 16:57, 12 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah i agree with the move, the Australian island is fairly non notable apart from tourists in South Australia. Maelgwn 11:25, 10 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
