Im going to remove al the song titles from the albums. Doesn't add that much and looks really ugly. If you want to know that much info, go to their site. --Soyweiser 13:22, 16 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

christian metal

[edit]

Graveworm is not a christian metal band. Lets not add it to that list people. --Soyweiser 11:37, 24 March 2006 (UTC) (edited edit from other person, removed insults).[reply]

I know that their not christian. I don't know why people think they are. But, I do have a question. Are they satanic? I havent seen any proof that they are, but reading through this discussion page, alot of people seem to either think they are, or know they are. If they are, please tell me where you found the info.

Because of their lyrics, maybe? Something about the coming of God. -Iopq 19:37, 5 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sabine Meir deceased

[edit]

Judging from the band's homepage (graveworm.de) it seems Sabine Meir, the band's keyboard player has passed away, though my knowledge of German isn't good enough to know the exact conditions.

Sabine Mair alive

[edit]

That little ditty on the preload to their page is about a friend of the band's who passed away; Ms. Mair is still among the living.

what!

[edit]

how could graveworm be christian metal! they are black metal!!!!!!! black metal is satanic!!!!

Black metal isn't always satanic. Alot is, but not all. There are Christian Black Metal bands. Its called Holy black metal and/or Christian Black Metal. So, black metal isnt always satanic.

It is impossible for black metal to be Christian in the same way it is impossible for a realist panting to depict unicorns giving blowjobs to reindeer. ---Ours18

Interesting painting your working on. But, look at what wikipedia has to say about black metal. Apart from lyrics that worship satan, alot of Christian bands that are considered black metal have the majority of the characteristics of black metal.

Well, that might be what Uncle Wiki says, but it's wrong, blatantly and historically wrong. Not that it matters here anyway, Graveworm aren't Christian. Ours18 20:22, 28 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I dont care if Graveworm is not christian. I'm now here to debate that black metal is not always satanic.

Of course it isn't, but it's always anti-Judeo-Christian, always has been and always will be in the same way Romanticism will always be unrealistic. This isn't the right place for this argument anyway, right? Ours18 07:50, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Quite: part of the thing with Black Metal is the inseparability of art and ideology, and an intrinsic feature of the genre is a loathing of Judeo-Christianity, be it expressed as Satanism, Odinism (or other pagan traditions) or just plain atheist misanthropy. But Graveworm, if they want Jesus to awake (see below) ARE Christian, and hence not black metal. The Crying Orc 06:45, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

They ARE Christian

[edit]

And therefore they are NOT black metal. Take, for example, the chorus (and black metal doesn't even structurally make use of choruses very often) from the song 'Awake' (find it on the site under 'Lyrics'): ...

Awake Jesus Christ - the world must survive
Awake Jesus Christ - I saw the hope

... This is Christian. One cannot deny it. Moreover, in an interview [1], the front man Fiori says that he believes in religion, but has a problem with the organised church (Ich glaub an die Religion, aber ich finde die Kirche scheisse!).

They are most certainly not a black metal band, if they want to awake (and not, say, rape) Jesus Christ, and if they hold views like the front man.

I have called them 'dark metal' instead. I am hardly one to get all worked up about black metal that is 'true' based on superficial criteria, but we do have to draw the line somewhere, and I think that an appropriate place to draw it comes with the outspewings of faggoths who barely play proper black metal anyway, but also sing about Jesus in their songs. If someone can think of a better title than 'dark metal' (but which doesn't perpetuate the black metal idiocy) then feel free to change it. But these guys are nowhere near being black metal, by any of the established criteria of the genre. The Crying Orc 06:43, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Just because they they mention Jesus in a song(s) doesn't mean they're Christian.--Inhumer 19:58, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

And just because someone wants to embrace God that doesn't make them religious, right? -Iopq 19:39, 5 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
With that logic, you're stating that bands like My Dying Bride, and Die Verbannten Kinder Evas are "Christian" just because they have a religious theme to a song that isn't blatantly against it. There's a core difference between using a theme for artistic purposes and adhering to a certain ideology. Same way that Slayer uses Satanic imagery, but don't adhere to Satanism. Now if they're "Black Metal" or not because of their sound (a lot of people, including myself, think they sound like Cradle of Filth), is a whole different subject that I won't get in to. JanderVK (talk) 04:56, 30 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

just call them symphonic extreme metal. Their albums are diverse enough in sound that trying to be extremely specific is pretty futile. Feb 18, 2007.

If they play black metal with christian lyrics they are unblack metal.

Cradle of Filth comparisons

[edit]

I've heard of the cof comparisons to Graveworm especially by the reviewers. So it is better make the mention to the article from that.

C.O.F plagiarism?

WTF on Blackened death metal

[edit]

Just because they have some melodeath influences on Collateral Defect doesnt make them death metal. Its all the same melodic black metal, so I'm removing "blackened death metal" tag. Or do you think this sounds like Belphegor / Behemoth? Correct me if I'm wrong. --Crusheer (talk) 21:01, 13 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

if you listen to all their works, you shall see not just blackened death but even pure death sound in many of their early songs.Solinothe Wolf 21:59, 5 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
