Great Eastern Hotel (Philippines)[edit]

There is evidence that as early as 1932, there existed a Great Eastern Hotel in Manila, and two years later its address was recorded as Echague Street, Quiapo. Around this time the Great Eastern Hotel was considered to be the foremost of the Cantonese-owned hotels of Manila, and—together with the Manila Hotel and the Bay View Hotel—among the best hotels in Manila. During the Battle of Manila in 1945, the American military used the Great Eastern Hotel building as a command post and observation post. The hotel declined after World War II, and the Great Eastern Hotel building is known to have existed as late as 1966.

According to the hotel's website, the hotel was revived in the 1995 with the opening of two branches, one in Quezon City and the other in Makati. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 120.28.162.13 (talk) 09:46, 14 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
