Which Local Government Area is it in?

[edit]

According to Shire of Noosa, it's in their LGA, and I suspect that may be the case for the southern Cooloola part of the Park. But the northern part with Fraser Island is pretty definitely in Fraser Coast Region. I suspect it is in both. Anyone confirm or deny? Kerry (talk) 01:26, 4 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Name Change

[edit]

Looks like the park's name has been changed https://www.abc.net.au/news/2017-04-24/great-sandy-national-park-renamed-kgari/8465240

Looking at the Queensland Place Names entry [1] it is still Great Sandy National Park, and there is no entry for K'Gari National Park. K'Gari is an official alternative name for Fraser Island though [ https://www.dnrm.qld.gov.au/qld/environment/land/place-names/search#/search=k'gari&types=0&place=Fraser_Island__KGari_47533]. Maybe it's been agreed but not quite formally gazetted. Kerry (talk) 02:56, 6 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Fraser Island name has now officially changed to K'gari.
