As of Oct 2015, just a press release from the mall[edit]

Green Acres Mall is part of the important, though sadly familiar, story of the Great Migrations (several) and demographic change. Google Green Acres Mall Fight 2015 as evidence. I don't want to bother fixing the article and getting into a tiresome battle with the Mall's PR staff. The Mall once served the magnificent houses up near Southern State Parkway, but the problems Brooklyn and Queens faced in the 1950s reached wealthy Valley Stream by the 1970s. One was afraid to leave one's car in the parking lot by the 1990s. However, just as Brooklyn and Queens are bouncing back, the Green Acres Mall has made a determined attempt to recover past glory. Weird redirect[edit]

It is a little weird that Columbia Airport (New York) redirects here...a mall having little to do with a historical airfield (other than it being located where the airfield was). You could (and should) nominate Columbia Airport (New York) at WP:RFD. If a redirect is a SURPRISE, it's not a good redirect. @Bdushaw, feel free to ping me if you want help in nominating at RfD. A search of Wikipedia turns up no suitable article that might serve as a redirect, that I could find. By rights, the historical airport would have its own article - there is ample notability, e.g., Curtis Airfield, Airport site, When Valley Stream took flight. It apparently was a short-lived airport, though it was used during WWII. Valley Stream is Long Island, some of the citations are "Long Island Herald", I believe. The most sensible and correct solution here would be to create a new article about the airfield, as mentioned above. Possible article names would be Columbia Field or Curtiss Field (New York), I am uncertain. Since there is no suitable place to discuss the issue, perhaps here will suffice. I came to this issue by editing the Ninety-Nines; a famous aviation group founded at Curtis Field in 1929. Related directly-relevant articles include Curtiss-Wright, Columbia Aircraft Corporation and Commonwealth Aircraft. While it was a public airport only for a few years, those were quite illustrious years, near the beginnings of the aircraft age. All the famous flyers of the era would use the airport. Lindbergh took off from there for his trans-Atlantic flight; but N.B. I think that is incorrect; the Smithsonian has it wrong; Lindbergh left from Roosevelt Field in 1927, before Curtis Field existed! It then became a private airport/manufacturing plant for Columbia Aircraft, and after WWII was sold to become this mall. Another factor to this hypothetical article is the more recent efforts to give the field historical acknowledgement. All of this suggests modifications/developments to the articles Curtiss-Wright, Columbia Aircraft Corporation, perhaps others. Having written this paragraph, the primary article name Curtiss Field (New York) seems appropriate, given its historical importance.

Related articles are Mitchel Air Force Base and Roosevelt Field (airport) - Mitchel was an early military airbase that was sold to form the adjacent public airfields Roosevelt and Curtiss...it seems Lindbergh used a hanger at Curtiss, but took off from Roosevelt.
