Offices

This article is incredibly negative

Why the sudden move doesn't make sense

Virtually no one bothers to distinguish between separate affiliated partnerships that do business under a single brand name unless one already has a money judgment against one partnership and is trying to collect money from the other. As far as 99% of the world is concerned, they're all Greenberg Traurig. Also, Wikipedia has a "common name" policy for things. We usually go with the shorter common name unless there's a really, really good reason to use a longer name, like a legal name (e.g., Apple Inc. to distinguish from apple the fruit.) This is why we go with the common name United States rather than the full legal name United States of America, or United Kingdom rather than United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The changes I have made to Greenberg Traurig’s Wikipedia page have been in an effort to provide users with information about the firm that has been verified through 3rd party sources. My relationship with Greenberg Traurig ensures that I know about the subject of which I am sharing information. I understand and respect that Wikipedia is a tool that provides its users with neutral information on its subject, and not an opportunity for free publicity.

Regarding the “common name” policy, I am not aware and am happy to change the name back to “Greenberg Traurig.”

In regard to the sections flagged for citations in the Diversity and Pro Bono sections – I have listed 3rd party references for each of those flagged sections below which I would like to petition to be added to the page. Response to advertising tag

(copy and past from my response at User talk:Mwp42881‎ You asked for my views on my talk page about the article and why in particular I had added the advert tag. I am happy to advise and to try and work towards a more balanced article.

However, there are two issues that I believe need straightening out:

1. You appear from your edits to be solely associated with one topic - Greenberg Traurig and people associated with the firm. In Wikipedia this is generally a strong signal that the editor has a potential conflict of interest. Please would you review the conflict of interest guidelines before editing further or responding to this message.
2. Had it not been for the controversy section, I would have rated the article as non-notable and would have marked it for speedy deletion. Few companies or law practices are notable according to the Wikipedia guidelines and a number of articles about legal and financial companies, partnership and firms have recently been deleted because they fail the notability test.

With those points in mind, it is worth re-reading the article as if you were a sceptical foreign national living in a country remote from the USA and ask "how relevant is this to an encyclopaedia - or are they just trying to make themselves look good? ". Using that test I would remove or very greatly shorten the following sections:

• Diversity - probably all should go
• Pro Bono - all or almost all should go
• Most of the Rankings section
• Chambers and Partners - should go
• Best Lawyers - should go
• Offices - should go (already summarised in lead)

I should stress this is my personal view, not a Wikipedia view but I have been an editor here for more than 6 years I hope that helps. I now note that you do indeed have a strong conflict of interest and I would strongly recommend that you undertake no further edits of this article or it talk page and leave it to other, uninvolved editors to effect whatever improvements may be required. I find it disconcerting that as a consultant to a (presumably) esteemed legal firm that you continue editing even after another editor flagged the conflict of interest in August 2010. Excessive listing

The infobox is supposed to be a snapshot of information, not an exhaustive list. If Ford, Microsoft, Amazon, Dell and Chrysler can get along with 4 or less leadership names in their infobox, I'm pretty sure this firm can do it too. Niteshift36 (talk) 03:12, 4 July 2017 (UTC)

Update History of the firm

In 2018, Greenberg Traurig launched a multi-office team to do work for clients in the e-sports industry. The practice is led by Dallas litigation partners.
