Another source[edit]

Might be some stuff worth paraphrasing in British Brick Society, June 1996:

"The Grosvenor Picture Palace is mostly in white terracotta, but there is the use of green as part of the entrance. On the Oxford Road facade, the longer of the two sides, the centre is marked by a raised torch, like the Olympic flame, done in white terracotta. This large auditorium, for its time, had a balcony, the front of which has multi-coloured inlaid panels. Because of its location away from the city centre of Manchester, this was never a great cornmercial success. Its architect, Percy Hothersall, went on to design the first supercinema in Manchester, the Piccadilly, in 1922 which in 1937 was converted into Littlewoods store. The latter was not a building with a terracotta facade."

Nice find! I've added the info and reference to the article. Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 20:18, 30 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
There's also more info in [1] and [2] (both of which are existing refs), which it would be good to work into the article at some point. Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 20:32, 30 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Good to know from View Manchester that dancing on tables is still standard, as it was when it was called the Flea and Firkin. I don't know if we can say much about that based on current sources though. Yaris678 (talk) 22:15, 30 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Redirect from Riley's Snooker Club[edit]

I don't think Riley's Snooker Club should redirect to this article. The correct article would be about this company. However, I don't think such an article exists at the moment. Yaris678 (talk) 12:22, 31 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Good point. I thought it was a local name for the venue, not as a chain brand. I've deleted the redirect and reworded the article accordingly. Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 19:06, 31 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The?[edit]

I think this page should be moved to Grosvenor Picture Palace. i.e. drop the "The".

I think this is similar to WP:THEUNI.

Anyone disagree?

As long as there's a redirect from the other version, I don't particularly mind either way. I added the "The" prefix as that's what the sign above the entrance says. I guess might make it easier to find in category lists if it starts with 'G' rather than 'The G'. Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 18:14, 2 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Done. I have moved the article and change the DYK hook to fit. Yaris678 (talk) 15:17, 4 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
