Cape Penguin? Could someone explain the name, or is it a typo?

Funny :-) Nicely spotted. Thanks. Lycaon 08:32, 25 September 2006 (UTC)

The name is Cape Pangolin it is the name of a mammal with large brown scales and it is not a typo. Does that help? Hope so. ^_^ --Eragon 17:43, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

Manis or Smutsia?

What is the current genus, and by what authority? • • • Peter (Southwood) (talk): 15:02, 21 November 2014 (UTC)

Guadin et al 2009 [1] is the latest literature on the taxonomy of Pangolins. the Ground pangolin falls under Smutsia. The four asian pangolins remain in the Genus Manis while the four african pangolins are split between Smutsia and Phataginus.208.103.112.69 (talk) 14:45, 15 May 2015 (UTC)

Reliability of SavePangolins

A lot of references in this article point to SavePangolins (formerly the Pangolin Conservation Support Initiative). Though their intentions are in the right place, they claim that pangolins' closest relatives are Xenarthans, a claim which has been outdated for a long time. (You can see the main pangolin article for taxonomy information; Wikipedia doesn't like IPs adding links and I no longer edit Wikimedia projects enough to make recovering my password or creating a new account worthwhile.)

This false information eventually got added to to this article. I'm about to remove it (I don't think that the external relationships of pangolins is relevant on individual species pages) and move the initial reference to the next reference. But I worry that if they get such a basic point wrong, that other information of theirs is similarly outdated, and that SavePangolins is not a good source. However I don't have the motivation to find a better one. (And even if I did, I don't have the motivation to be a registered user, as was required to add external links last time I checked.) —2605:6000:E98F:9F00:342A:621B:8F37:E843 (talk) 20:50, 27 September 2015 (UTC)
