it was also directly lifted (in a case of clear copyright violation) from a page at http://www.finweb.com/investing/guaranteed-investment-contracts.html , you can see from archive.org that the finweb article is from late 2007. In 2008 somebody changed the wikipedia article to just be a copy/paste of the first three paragraphs from finweb. Those three paragraphs have been removed, and the article has been reverted back to the 'old wikipedia version', but adding some other stuff about the history of GICs.
