UK Changing of the Guard

[edit]

Shouldn't the UK's Coldstream guards be in here? The changing of the Guard in the UK is perhaps the most famous in the world. A person who knows enough detail about the procedure should add it post haste.

21 gun salute

What is the origin of the number 21 in ceremonial parades? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 60.229.173.52 (talk) 14:10, 26 January 2007 (UTC).[reply]

General military term

[edit]

The changing of the guard is a general military term for, well, changing the guard. It happens anywhere there are guards. However, it's only the ceremonial and public attractions that have the elaborate ceremonies. The term isn't special to those positions with ceremony or dress uniforms.

Capitalization

@WikiPedant: and anyone else interested, would you contest it if I put in for a technical move to Guard mounting, per WP:TITLECAPS? Ibadibam (talk) 23:59, 16 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @Ibadibam: -- A quick search suggests to me that neither "guard mounting" nor "changing the guard" is a proper noun (with the likely exception of "The Changing of the Guard" in London). So a page move is probably the right thing to do. Go for it. -- WikiPedant (talk) 00:24, 17 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
