Meaning of 'feat'

[edit]

It has come to my attention that while searching for the meaning of the world 'feat', wikipedia redirected me to the term 'guest appearance'. Now this is almost completely flawed as the meaning of the term 'feat' is, reciting the dictionary "n. remarkable, skillful, or daring action." Please fix this problem unless you can proove that guest appearance is another meaning for the word feat. Please notify me of a change to this page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Guy from next door (talkcontribs) 09:21, 8 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"feat" as an abbreviation of "featuring" is indeed a kind of guest appearance. But the Feat page has changed from a simple redirect to a proper disambig page to reflect the multiple meanings involved. CapnZapp (talk) 19:01, 23 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
A "feat" on its own is absolutely NOT an abbreviation of "featuring"! The abbreviated form of features/featuring/etc requires a PUNCTUATION MARK (ie. full stop) to denote that it represents the abbreviated word, as in "feat. Bob Dylan". A feat is altogether different - a remarkable action, as the first fellow defined - for example, "a feat of dexterity" or "a heroic feat". Pete Hobbs (talk) 05:08, 2 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Guest of honor redirects here?

[edit]

Why does guest of honor redirect here? The guest of honor is the person for whom a social event is being given -- as in, "The birthday boy is the guest of honor", or "I am giving this party in honor of my friend, the celebrated author". WhatamIdoing (talk) 23:11, 12 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Pop Music?

[edit]

I'd like to suggest the term "contemporary music" for the "Pop Music"-section, simply because Rap and Rock - just as the lion's share of music in general - are not Pop Music. (They are popular, but not Pop.) The way it's written now might lead to people mistaking the term 'pop' for the genre. Wrath of the Dunmer (talk) 14:33, 22 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

That is what I came to the talk page to point out. Lol. I fixed it. 67.181.79.192 (talk) 09:49, 26 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Why do most songs with those have only one lead artist? For example, (artist name) featuring (artist name), (artist name), and (artist name). Eloc08 (talk) 05:43, 20 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Should "List of guest characters in video games" be converted into its own article?

[edit]

The "List of guest characters in video games" page currently redirects to the list in this article under the subsection "Video games", but since there are multiple articles dedicated to lists of guest characters in television, wouldn't the same list but for a different medium also be notable? RayanWP (talk) 08:03, 17 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Agree. This article is unbalanced and overwhelmed by the list of video games. This section should be separated out to a new article. Masato.harada (talk) 15:49, 1 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
