Talk: Guiuan Eastern Samar

Can anybody update the information of Guiuan, E. Samar every now and then. It should be helpful for Guiuananons who live here in the USA, or other countries beside the Philippines who would come to Wikipedia or link their personal webpages here, like me.

Thanks so much!

Russian refugees

[edit]

The comment on Russian refugees fleeing in the wake of the Russian Revolution and Russian Civil War should probably say they were fleeing in the wake of the Chinese Revolution, which seems more appropriate to 1949. The following article mentions that they were in danger from the communists.

https://www.independent.co.uk/voices/comment/a-forgotten-episode-in-russian-history-leaves-links-with-the-philippines-8980910.html

“In 1949, with Mao’s forces approaching Shanghai, an appeal was made by the International Refugee Organisation, established to tackle the displacement crisis caused by the war and a precursor to the UNHCR. It wanted new homes for thousands of White Russians, those people who had emigrated from Russia in the aftermath of the Bolshevik Revolution and subsequent civil war and whose lives were now in danger from the Communists.” 203.220.191.73 (talk) 09:56, 10 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
