Gurupur → Gurupura – The most common name. Web searches produce many more hits for this than the name it was moved to without discussion, 700+ to 118 with a disambiguation Karnataka. See [1] versus [2] . With any type of disamb to reduce confusion with the river, e.g. Gurupura town, Gurupura village, or Gurupura, Karnataka, the results are similar. Google books results shown only one hit, for Gurupura. There is no official name policy of the Karnataka government, contrary to the reason given when this was moved to Gurupur.
