Untitled[edit]

I placed the POV tag when creating the article because it is pasted from a US government website. Because this comes from a US govt source it may not be neutral, but I don't have the expertise to judge. RED FLAG? I questioned an old friend who was US Ambassador to Guyana in the 1990s (now retired) about this entry. It is not quite what it seems. Most of it was in fact lifted from information publicly available through the State Department, but the paragraph on "political activism" is a propaganda puff from a lobby called Guyana, USA, whose website is provided. That website seems full of wildly-exaggerated dysinformation about the extent of Guyanese emigration to the US. The "political activism" paragraph should therefore be removed -- but once it is, the whole entry collapses into an unnecessary appendage to the main entry on "Guyana." . 2old bill (talk) 15:39, 4 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

So "your old friend" is the quality source that substantiates the removal? This needs to be restored, otherwise it is vadalism, as this activism does indeed exist. The party that represents that , which was cited as the primary source, proves it. You calling it a "propaganda puff" is your own opinion, as is calling the party that advocates it (GuyanaUSA) and lobbies for it into question while at the same time offering no actual arguments. President Trump just recently signed an order that eliminated the need for Guyanese people to have a visa to travel to mainland U.S.A, this fact alone proves that there is definitely something going on that warrants the existence of that section that mentions the deepening ties and all the related movement and activism regarding this fact.
