Mythology or hagiography?

[edit]

Is Gwen Tair Bron known from any truly mythological sources, or just from the Lives of Saints? If the latter, then we should make it clear that her 'mythological' status is purely a modern interpretation; naturally, we would also need to remove her from the Welsh mythology category. (I've read most of Welsh mythology, but it's perfectly possible that I overlooked or forgot Gwen somewhere along the line.) Best, Q·L·1968 11:20, 6 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Confusing wording

[edit]

Popular devotion interpreted Gwen's unusual physical and spiritual fecundity by God's gift to her of a third breast. So did she actually have a third breast, or was it a rumour among her devotees that iconographers took up as eagerly as Moses' horns? 89.64.70.34 (talk) 12:12, 3 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
