Giger bars

several "Giger Bars" sprung up in Tokyo, New York, and his native Switzerland, although the foreign bars have since closed

"Foreign" as in foreign to his native Switzerland (New York and Tokyo bars closed), or foreign to the presumably North American based reader of the article (Switzerland and Tokyo bars closed)? --66.120.156.159 07:48, 6 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Why assume NA based reader? If anything this should be based around Switzerland. cyclosarin 14:59, 18 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Guitars

Is it worth moving some of the guitar details to the Ibanez page? (also, is it even relevant to the Giger page that someone printed out his work and put it on a guitar?) Ojw 17:22, 17 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Analysis

Regarding (e.g.): "Usually, the sex appears to be involuntary; in a word, it is rape. Giger’s art is deeply and disturbingly misogynistic. It is woman’s purpose not merely to serve, but, rather, also to service men, and technology allows, even encourages, the rape of women, his work suggests."

Don't we have some policy about WP:No original research? Ojw 00:31, 30 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Style

Until some one can show some proof of him using "Satanic imagery" I'm taking the following out: "Some of his paintings also feature Satanic imagery, though Giger himself is not known to be a Satanist." His work may be frightening to some but I haven't seen any of his work that could be concidered "satanic". "Satanic" is a word that is often overused to descibe things that have nothing to do with Satanism. Typhoid Orchid 13:45, 14 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it was recently (?) reissued by art book house Taschen. You can read all about it on Giger's website. - 219.194.176.36 08:46, 10 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Pronounciation?

Is there a sound file or something of the correct pronunciation? the IPA doesn't help much. --Rougewisp 00:13, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

his name rhymes with the word "eager"

Is he still active?

I went to an exibition in Vienna two years ago, and they had some new work there. Mainly life size models of the "orifice" of a garbage truck in various textural designs. They were labeled as a work in progress, so if he hasnt stopped since then, I think he is still active. 195.190.143.254 (talk) 09:09, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Satanism claims

After a brief study of a few Giger paintings it seems he used upright pentagrams and not inverted ones (as far as I can see), but he did use Baphomet on his Necronomicon? If he did not use the pentagram as inverted then what is he trying to say? Does anyone know more about this? -- Filamentofzodd (talk) 21:41, 30 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
