Needs Cleanup?

To me, this article sounds more like a PR release than an encyclopedia article. Rather than simply edit it, I have flagged it as such to initiate discussion on the topic.Mrpaco 08:00, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

Looks like someone from HGST marketing edited this entry back in March and added lots of flowery prose — no mention is made of the company hemorrhaging money! The original version seems to be much more objective.
What's to stop marketing departments of companies from making these kinds of edits on their own behalf?
Other editors' vigilance! One should be able to revert edits on the basis of conflict of interest. In this case, however, it was copied straight from www.hitachigst.com/portal/site/en/menuitem.cbba11b16b6e50a7760062f6aac4f0a0/, which is a copyright violation and we can revert back to the original version. User Dpattax seems to have borrowed significant text from the above link:
"Hitachi Global Storage Technologies was founded in 2003 and was formed as a result of the strategic combination of IBM and Hitachi’s storage technology businesses."
"The company’s vision is to enable users to fully engage in the digital lifestyle by providing access to large amounts of storage capacity in formats suitable for the office, on the road and in the home."
"The company will extend the world-renowned R&D heritage of its founders and build on their combined 80 years of hard disk drive expertise."
"With substantial and dedicated research and development investments, Hitachi Global Storage Technologies is positioned to inspire and lead the future of storage technologies."
Additionally, the statistic about $4.2B in revenue is from 2004, referring to the 2003 fiscal year. (Search the above link for HGST PR source.) 24.180.146.208 03:57, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

I am reverting the entry to its past page - April 2007 - to allay any fears of marketing or PR involvement. In the spirit of Wikipedia, I will make updates to the post that correct outdated or mis-information, update company facts/figures or add any information that may be germane, and then leave it up to the community to decide.jspepper 19:53, 18 June 2007 (PDT)

Initial Version

A simple translation of the barebones [[日立グローバルストレージテクノロジーズ|article] on the Japanese Wikipedia site. At least this is a framework to start from. Those Seagate PR folk are sneaky, editing their entry from anonymous IP addresses. Since I'm logged in, though, I have to maintain NPOV.... GMW 05:06, 5 February 2006 (UTC)

Hi, I work for a communications firm that represents HGST and I've uploaded a new logo for the company that can be added to this article, here. Due to my COI, I won't edit the article directly. Would someone mind swapping in the updated logo? Thank you! Mary Gaulke (talk) 21:43, 13 August 2015 (UTC)

Done, but I have to say IMO its not a great logo Tom94022 (talk) 23:57, 13 August 2015 (UTC)
Haha, many thanks! Mary Gaulke (talk) 13:37, 14 August 2015 (UTC)
