Merge with body fat redistribution syndrome

[edit]

The article body fat redistribution syndrome appears to be about the same topic as HIV-associated lipodystrophy. A search for "body fat redistribution syndrome" leads to pages about lipodystrophy and even a page (Radiopaedia) showing the two to be synonyms. --Gccwang (talk) 21:41, 14 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Lipodystrophy and HIV related lipodystrophy not the same: It doesn't seem to be the same disease. The HIV related one are caused by the extensive use of antiretroviral therapy whereas lipodystrophy can happen in people without HIV infection. Therefore I think there should be maintained two different pages, maybe with a reference in both to each other. Diogo sfreitas (talk) 23:54, 7 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Support merge. While Diogo sfreitas is right that HIV-associated lipodystrophy is only a subset of lipodystrophy, that is not the issue in question. The issue is whether the syndrome called Body fat redistribution syndrome is a synonym for HIV-associated lipodystrophy or is used (rather than "could be used") for any form of lipodystrophy. I believe the former to be correct, so suppose the merge proposed by Gccwang. Klbrain (talk) 16:42, 16 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
