Article Revision
[edit]As an integral part of the course I am taking at Yale University, which covers in detail the science and politics of HIV/AIDS, I aim to perform a more in-depth study of the prevalence of the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the scientific, social, political, as well as other relevant sectors of Mozambique. While the article in its current state (as of 20 October 2017) discusses the impact and response of individuals to the epidemic in brief detail, the curt reference in the introduction to Mozambique's "severe and generalized HIV/AIDS epidemic" hardly does enough to elucidate the pandemia of this disease. What's more, the last edit made to this article was performed in April of 2015, meaning that updates in information may be necessary. Consequently, I plan to totally revamp this article by adding and/or revising the following items:
- A detailed introduction section regarding the current state of HIV in Mozambique (how many people are diagnosed/undiagnosed, how many are on treatment, how many die, how many new infections occur per year)
- A section discussing any history associated with HIV/AIDS in Mozambique
- A section discussing Mozambique citizens' awareness and risk perception of the epidemic
- A section discussing the current state of HIV/AIDS education
- A section discussing the prevalence of the disease (by race, gender, age, pregnant women, and province)
- A section discussing the affected groups, or demographics of people living with AIDS (PLWA) in Mozambique over time
- Division and expansion of the brief "Impact" section to discuss the economic, social, political, and health services ramifications in four different sections
- Expansion of the brief "Response" section with a "Response and Intervention" section
- A section discussing any additional organizations or entities that have played a large role in addressing Mozambique's HIV/AIDS crisis
- A "See Also" section
- A "Further Reading" section
- Elongation and diversification of the "References" section
- Elongation and diversification of the "External Links" section
Should this expanded article address any other aspects of HIV/AIDS in Mozambique? Let me know if you have any comments or suggestions! Thanks.
