Slavery[edit]

In the "Post-war" section of this article, it states that the Belvidera "was reported to be at Puerto Rico, where she was attempting to recover either escaped slaves, or slaves that had been improperly sold." This strikes me as somewhat implausible, particularly given the lack of a citation at the sentence; by 17 May 1835, when the reported sighting occurred, slavery had been abolished in the British West Indies (via the Slavery Abolition Act 1833), so a government frigate retrieving slaves for the purpose of returning them to enslavement seems highly unlikely. If no one else objects to it, I will remove the sentence in question. Dabberoni15 (talk) 14:38, 16 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Dabberoni15, good point. When I can get back to my sources I will see if I can find a better explanation and source. Acad Ronin (talk) 16:27, 16 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
