Could some one provide chapter and verse for the Umberto Eco reference? I got it from continental versions of Wikipedia this article (bit naughty confess - all means delete if don't approve) Rinpoche (talk) 01:48, 9 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I can't find any textual citation of Terentianus Maurianus in Eco's novel. Neither can I find any allusions or translations of the Latin by keyword searching digital editions. I suspect the line borrowed here --"By extension the phrase is understood by Umberto Eco in The Name of the Rose) as "Books share their fates with their readers" -- is a reading of the novel in terms of the latin phrase.
