Addition of unsourced material

[edit]

Attempts are being made to add material to the article that are unsupported by a source, a violation of WP:V and WP:RS. An encyclopedia is built on reliable sources. Please read the links and comply with standard Wikipedia policy, thanks. Jusdafax (talk) 09:11, 25 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The edits being made to this article are in line with the family history of the area which can easily be verified by any local living in the area. This is Pakistan and there aren’t sources for this information especially when it comes to small towns. There is just custom available to verify such information. 101.53.234.96 (talk) 09:14, 25 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Also note that the current information on this page that you keep on referring back to also has no source if we’re going down that route and has a lot of grammatical errors. 2400:ADC5:188:5E00:5C98:980D:407B:CA58 (talk) 09:17, 25 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia is an encyclopedia that is based on veriability per WP:V. This is bedrock policy. I’m sorry, but everyone editing Wikipedia is subject to this policy. To quote the first paragraph: “In the English Wikipedia, verifiability means other people using the encyclopedia can check that the information comes from a reliable source. Its content is determined by previously published information rather than editors' beliefs, opinions, experiences, or previously unpublished ideas or information. Even if you are sure something is true, it must have been previously published in a reliable source before you can add it.” If everyone is allowed to do as they wish, without verification, we will lose the encyclopedia to a chaos of unverified statements. Please understand and follow this simple rule, thanks. As far as the grammatical errors you mention, fix them as you see fit. The previous unsourced material placed there is subject to this policy as well, of course. Jusdafax (talk) 09:28, 25 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If there is a source, how do you expect someone to add it when the source isn’t available on the internet? 2400:ADC5:188:5E00:5C98:980D:407B:CA58 (talk) 09:30, 25 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Is the information available in a book, or periodical? Some material is usable in that fashion. Please refer to WP:RS for more details on Wikipedia sourcing requirements. Jusdafax (talk) 09:42, 25 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes there is a book about this family as well. However, how does one provide this information to Wikipedia? 2400:ADC5:188:5E00:2961:181C:F8F7:35AE (talk) 09:45, 25 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia:Citing sources should be helpful. Best wishes! Jusdafax (talk) 09:50, 25 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
