Literal meaning

No joy finding a proper etymology, although this Beijing Review article emphasizes a historic connection with water, so I suspect the name means what it says (roughly, watery marsh). I did add a history section though :-) Matt's talk 14:46, 19 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
