Halabja is one of 4 towns which iraqi council of ministers proposed to become a Governorate, but the decision needs approval by Iraqi parliament, which is not an easy task — Preceding unsigned comment added by 37.17.148.34 (talk) 22:34, 1 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

On March 13, 2014,Prime Minister of Kurdistan Regional Government, signed the decision of making Halabja the fourth governorate of Kurdistan Region, On March 16, 2014, Kurdistan Region President Masoud Barzani signed a regional directive to promote Halabja from district status to a province — Preceding unsigned comment added by A Halabja (talkcontribs) 08:53, 21 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Iraqi Goverment recognized

As of 13th of march 2023, The iraqi council has recognised halabja as an iraqi governate. Xenzoy (talk) 15:49, 13 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
