So...[edit]

when did they go from a hardware store to a "boutique" store??? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.185.31.111 (talk) 13:32, 16 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The ol' copy and paste -[edit]

I was just reading the history section at Hammacher Schlemmer's catalogue site, and this wiki is essentially copied word for word from it. (http://www.hammacher.com/about_us/history.asp) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 205.250.233.138 (talk) 00:27, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

As of 25/1/2011, it does not seem like a copy/paste. Given all the extra articles ("The"), it seems to me that this was a translation from another language (German?). 198.135.0.233 (talk) 13:44, 25 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The extra articles were the result of [change that really looked like vandalism]. They have what appears to be a display of their printed catalog online, and I didn't see the word "The" thrown around like confetti, the claim that it's "more in line with Hammacher Schlemmer's recent catalogs" nonwithstanding.
It also doesn't look like the history page currently at their site; whether it's a copy-and-paste from an earlier version - or from some other source - is another matter. Guy Harris (talk) 09:45, 1 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Re. firsts[edit]

I checked out the item I thought would be easiest to find information on in the list of firsts, the Roomba, and while H.S. may have been one of the first stores to sell the device, it certainly wasn't anything exclusive.[1] How much of the rest of this list is questionable? MacArthur's of Hammacher Schlemmer[edit]

That was the curiously worded name when they opened a store in Chicago. I don't know if it was just that store or what.66.245.130.57 (talk) 01:53, 25 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Clientele section is a disaster[edit]

The entire thing reads like an advertisement, and probably was ripped off of their website at some point. I was half inclined to remove it myself but before taking some drastic measure maybe someone with more patience would consider trying to rescue it.--Oni Ookami AlfadorTalk|@ 19:42, 30 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Copy|pasted from company website?[edit]

reads like a company "our story" and not an encyclopedia article. Most is unsourced. 146.203.129.25 (talk) 19:08, 19 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
