As APEX are allowed on here and click being exactly the same sort of school run young enterprise company. I'm going to put the click link back on. While advertising is not the point of wikipedia as a young enterprise activity click represents the school just like a football team does. Whereas whatever the link to the entertainment site is clearly self promotion by some random person.

Cricket

[edit]

No need to mention individual names of certain cricketers.

Too much detail on rowing

[edit]

I have cleaned it up a little bit, but could you please identify which bits are extraneous. The amount of detail is too much for a wikipedia article on Hampton School in general. Perhaps it deserves its own page. (FeanorLobelia)

Have given the Rowing its own article. Left just the basics (The Spith)

I would question the notability of the Hampton School Boat Club, and whether it needs its own page? Might pu it up for deletion in the next few days to open discussion Sage1314 (talk) 12:33, 8 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Lack of clear sources

[edit]

Could you please add sources to this article through which facts about the school can be verified. For example an anonymous editor changed it from religeous to secular. There is no easy way to verify that. According to Wikipedia's verifiability policy, the onus is on the original editors to add such material. Otherwise suspect material should be removed to the talk page. Mozzerati 12:39, 11 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure exactly what is going on with this article, if the section on the Great Gas scare of 2006 is intended to be humerous or if anything related to it has actually occured. I am removing this section and placing it here becuase I am unable to find a single reference to this type of incident actually occuring on google news and I think something of this magnitude would warrant at least a single news article. If you have some sources with a judicious rewrite it could be reincluded in the article. AdamJacobMuller 01:56, 23 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
On the 17th of February, 2006, a gas leak was detected in the front car park, that threatened the lives of all the current inhabitants of Hampton School. Rather like a hostage situation, the pupils and staff were at the mercy of gas. The suspense continued all day and those inside were advised to not breathe very much, and were advised that in the event of exposure to the deadly gas to consult a mortician. Fortunately it was during Half - Term, so only those who were unlucky enough to be members of the Chemistry Department perished in the incident as they were holding their weekly OCR syllabus bingo session box social. Shortly after the agonizing death of those at the hands of the toxic underground nerve gas, nicknamed 'fear gas', somebody opened a window and the problem was solved. The situation soon returned to normal and despite the loss of life, the members of the school community stated the situation: "couldn't have turned out better" adding that they were relieved the problem had been solved and school life could return to normal. As it stands the window is still open, and the site is safe.

Contractors worked with the School’s maintenance staff to determine the extent of the leak which was located in the underground supply pipe, and it was found that someone had caused a rupture in the piping. Shortly after the event, the culprit was identified, but sadly 'fell' off a cliff.
On a lighter note they were unable to clean the school, so the stench of death hangs in the air as a constant reminder of the situation, bathing the upstairs corridors, which have become known as the 'The Halls of Death', in an air of elegy.

At one point there were fears that the school was to be closed, however the school commented that "a few corpses were not going to get in the way of the education of our children, which as always, is the number one priority of this noble establishment"
The school's most notorious student is Zander, who constantly removes "vandalism" from this page but is perfectly happy to keep and sustain his own vanadalism (see "The Great Gas Scare of '06). This contraditive nature is a prime example of his character.

Just noticed this, so i'm assuming the above section is in fact a complete fabrication AdamJacobMuller 01:58, 23 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Schoolbook.jpg

[edit]

Image:Schoolbook.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Alumni

[edit]

Can alumni of the school not notable enough to have their own wikipedia pages be considered to be notable enough to be on the list of notable alumni? I have seen this sort of thing pruned on other pages, and will remove all un-notable slumni presently. Arguments on a postcard Sage1314 (talk) 09:49, 8 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It is very unlikely that Matt and Luke Goss ever went to Hampton School. I was there 77-83 and would have remembered them - in addition, it is well known around the Camberley area that the Goss brothers went to Collingwood School. My wife knew them in the mid '80s. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Extrasmiley (talkcontribs) 12:22, 7 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Matt & Luke Goss certainly didn't attend the school - but if someone cleverer than me is able to add a cross-reference, Iain Morris, co-creator of The Inbetweeners, did, from 1984-91. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.75.37.250 (talk) 12:13, 2 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Bias

[edit]

Inherently for such a low-importance page, and being a school, much of the editing is done by editors with connections to the school.

What mustn't be overlooked is what makes this school/page distinct. It is first and foremost a private school, charging very large sums of money for attendance. Less than 6% of all school pupils in the UK experience this. The comparative lack of official scrutiny such schools receive is also noteworthy, so any public record should address this.

Attempts must not be made to whitewash the school using Wikipedia as public record. Text should prioritise clarity over familiarity to ex-private school pupils.

Versions of this page in the past have read like a prospectus. This is contrary to Wikipedia's Core content policies. Johncarrots (talk) 13:22, 3 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
