Adding a link to our school website[edit]

Hi

Would you mind adding a link to the Handcross Park School website. The address is www.handxpark.com

Many thanks Gadgetgirl0 08:17, 22 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Merge[edit]

I can see no notability for this article and suggest it should be merged into the Handcross article. Fmph (talk) 12:18, 5 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Actually it would make more sense to merge/redirect to Brighton College, as Handcross Park is being taken over by Brighton Coll. See local newspaper coverage. DuncanHill (talk) 12:34, 5 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Seconded. This article cannot be correct in claiming to be an "independent co-educational preparatory school" when it also says it has merged with Brighton College. I'm tidying up Wykeham Hall/Seafield Park/Newells/Desmoor/Handcross/Brighton in the list of preparatory schools. Martin of Sheffield (talk) 12:08, 26 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Re above, three comments:

Listed in Preparatory school (United Kingdom) thus: "Handcross Park School, Handcross, West Sussex now part of Brighton College". But can the present status in connection with Independent Association of Preparatory Schools and/or Independent Schools Council and other such bodies be ascertained?
Another "independent" prep school connected with Brighton College is Brighton College Preparatory School.
  • 2_Merger? It is of interest as an educational establishment, and would be better merged with Brighton College (together with Brighton College Preparatory School) than with Handcross.
  • 3_"...tidying up Wykeham Hall/Seafield Park/Newells/Desmoor..." The information at Newells Preparatory School is that the present prep school derives from these four and continues to use the name Newells.Qexigator (talk) 17:36, 26 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
According to the School's own history page "Handcross Park school is the trading name of Newells School Trust Ltd." When Desmoor and Newells combined subsequent to the fire in 1968 the school was called Handcross. I suspect that the Newells name has kept an association both for historic purposes, possibly old scholars, and as the legal entity. Changing the trust's name might be problematical if there are bequests either continuing or future. Post 2011 I agree with your point 3, both prep schools ought to be merged with the main college. I note that there is a merge proposal on Brighton College Preparatory School, but watch out, the talk is on the prep school talk page not as stated on the college talk. While all schools of the same group could be merged, some readers may be interested in them separately. Thus, a user wishing to collect (for a pdf or book) prep schools (but not other schools) or public schools in Kent and Sussex (but not other schools) would be better served if the articles remained unmerged, but interlinked.Qexigator (talk) 23:01, 27 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Merge, not delete[edit]

It is mergeable with Brighton College, see external links now added.[1] Qexigator (talk) 21:42, 28 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
