More on hangnails

What more can be said? I have found that a hangnail too small to be dealt with by scissors / clippers can be filed down to the point where it no longer causes discomfort. There, I feel better already. Myles325a (talk) 04:51, 26 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hangnails and nutrition

Anecdotally, I will start popping up hangnails when I don't drink enough orange juice. I've found articles claiming a link between folic acid, vitamin C or zinc deficiency, but nothing definitive. At least, nothing that I would call a credible source. Still, I start drinking orange juice daily, and they go away. --Javance (talk) 05:23, 14 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Catchy

The location of hangnails, though, is usually on the side of the nail. It may look like a torn nail in the photo, but it's usually skin that hardened and thus "feels like" and "looks like" it is a nail, even though it is still skin. The text could mention that hangnails occasionally also appear on the fingers behind the nail, if it doesn't yet, but the current image is more representative for the phenomenon than the stock photo.
