Contested deletion[edit]

This page should not be speedily deleted because it is being edited by a staff member Happiness Is Camping. We have edited our post from October 21 so that it fits within the parameters of an encyclopedia article. The new edit contains nonobjective facts. The original format that continues to be returned to is wrong in its entirety. The information is out of date and does not correctly represent Happiness Is Camping.

The article was not nominated for speedy deletion until you yourself restored that tag in this edit. Please read Wikipedia:Conflict of interest to try to get an idea of how you are in violation of Wikipedia policies. First of all, you need to declare your conflict of interest here and on you user page in accordance with WP:DISCLOSE. Then you should suggest any changes that you think appropriate here, on this talk page, rather than editing the article yourself. If other Wikipedia editors judge them to be appropriate, they will incorporate them into the article.
I am now going to remove the speedy-deletion tag, along with the content in the article that seems unduly promotional or unencyclopedic. If you have any questions, please ask them at my talk page or at WP:TEAHOUSE. But, because of your conflict of interest, don't continue to edit this article yourself. Wikipedia is not here to advertise or publicize your camp; it is an encyclopedia, not a host for whatever information you think "people need to know". The camp has its own Web site for that. Deor (talk) 16:40, 22 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I'll add that you cannot use, verbatim, material that appears on the camp's Web site unless the holder of the copyright to the site follows the procedure described at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials to release the material under a Wikipedia-compatible license. Hence, I've had to again remove some content as a copyright violation. Deor (talk) 17:05, 22 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Will you people (or person) please talk?[edit]

I don't know why the person or people who have been editing Happiness is Camping have avoided communicating with other editors at Wikipedia, but you're shooting yourself in the foot by refusing to do so. Your edits have continued to be promotional in appearance, and there seems to be no reason for them to be so. Wikipedia relies on independent sources, unconnected with articles' subjects, for the information in articles, yet the person or people working on this article seem to be intent on parroting (or at least relying on) only the camp's own Web site for the information in the article. A Google search suggests that there are at least one or two independent articles dealing with the camp in local newspapers (or Web sites), but no one has attempted to cite them. Other editors (at WP:TEAHOUSE, for example) could help in improving the article, but no one has asked for any help.

A Wikipedia article is based, not on what you say or want to be said about a topic, but on what other people have said about the topic. If there are an insufficiency of outside sources treating a topic, there cannot be an article about it. If you will not communicate, and if the referencing of the article hasn't improved in a few days, I will be nominating this article for deletion, since I believe that it fails to satisfy the general guideline for notability. Fixes to Page, (Connected Contributor)[edit]

As per Deor's suggestion, I would like to reach out to fellow contributors to help edit "Happiness Is Camping" in order to make it fit under Wikipedia's parameters. I have gathered a collection of outside sources, and have written an article I believe to fit Wikipedia's parameters. However, this article is merely a starting point for a non-connected editor to use as a template. I invite other editors to take this and create a fixed page.
