Reception Section

This going on about similarities to "Pawn Stars" is unnecessary and frivolous. Maybe just a line or two, but droning on and on like that does not seem encyclopedic. 71.222.124.210 (talk)

Citations Needed

I personally know that, for example, the quote from Seth in the "Overview" section is true, but still, citations are needed all over the place. If you've gone to the trouble of writing the piece, much less using direct quotes, then it should not be too difficult to refer to the episode, or wherever you got the information from. 71.222.124.210 (talk) 17:20, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

Staged Episodes?

All such shows are staged. I personally know people who have worked in "reality" television like this. All of the episodes are scripted in advance. The producers seek out "crazies" and people who own unusual items to bring to the show. This is entertainment, not reality. 50.81.60.161 (talk) 23:13, 5 July 2011 (UTC)

There's kind of a fine line between editing and scripting. Of course they're not gonna put their boring customers into the show. That said, it does appear to be 'scripted' to some extent in later seasons. As with all reality TV, producers are always in your ear (literally) telling you what to do, what to say, how to act, where to sit, when to stand, etc. This is not a new thing. As for your latter comment, it is absolutely entertainment--if it was not, why would anyone watch it as opposed to going down to their own local pawn shop and just standing around. 71.222.124.210 (talk) 17:30, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

Scenes Staged

The store is real, but the scenes are all fake done by local actors. With all the "confrontations" not once do you see a police response. You think there would be at least one. Some have been actual customers paid to ham it up for "TruTV" It is not reality, it's actuality" yea right.. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.4.107.152 (talk) 01:17, 22 April 2012 (UTC)

Comparison to Pawn Stars

I think there is too much here about the comparison to Pawn Stars and the article lacks anything else. I have removed the blatant Non-NPOV advertisement section that appears to have been made by someone working for the pawn shop or the show, but this article needs more information - perhaps some sourced positive criticism along with the bad. Cyberia23 (talk) 21:36, 25 August 2010 (UTC)

Amen. I just pretty much wrote the same thing (or part of what you said) but really, f***ing agreed. 71.222.124.210 (talk) 17:46, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
It doesn't change the reaction people who've watched Pawn Stars are going to have when encountering Hardcore Pawn. I myself thought it was simply an attempt to cash in on the success of the former when I first heard about it last year, and still find it hard to believe it's either "real" or "popular", when most of the show consists of confrontations and arguments. To the point where it doesn't even feel like a pawn shop. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that if Pawn Stars focuses on the actual business aspect, then Hardcore Pawn must be trying to show the other side of the coin where in everything goes wrong and nobody gets along. I do wish we could get some more genuine information about the show, especially whether or not it's faked. The comparisons to Pawn Stars, however, are never going to stop.--68.6.182.39 (talk) 00:01, 26 June 2012 (UTC)
Sadly you can't compare the two wiki articles, this one is severely lacking compared to theirs. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.142.182.27 (talk) 20:47, 29 August 2012 (UTC)

Show is staged

In the pilot for the show the head of security gets in trouble for biting an employee on the buttocks while searching her as part of their standard security policy to search employees and their handbags before leaving the store.

In the first episode of season 7, the pawn shop institutes a "new policy" to search handbags before employees leave the store. Seth surprises everyone by telling the security guard to frisk the employees.

Not much true in this TruTV show (or any of them that I can tell). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 155.49.15.164 (talk) 15:09, 3 April 2013 (UTC)

Ad?

This article reads like an advertisement. It needs to be rewritten in a neutral tone. —Preceding unsigned comment added by FreudianSlippers (talkcontribs)

It appears the people from the show, or someone who works for them wrote this up and yes it's a blatant advertisement and I have removed it. Cyberia23 (talk) 21:23, 25 August 2010 (UTC)
There was still a lot that did not meet WP:ADVERT which has been removed, and this will require ongoing monitoring. FlatOut 12:24, 16 May 2013 (UTC)

Split out BLP content?

Although this article is nominally about the TV show, it contains a lot of BLP info about Les Gold himself. In fact, Les Gold presently redirects here. BLP articles require special handling and shouldn't be under the guise of a TV show article. I propose we replace the redirect macro by moving BLP info on Gold there, and leave the TV show info here. Thoughts? Woz2 (talk) 18:10, 9 March 2013 (UTC)

Is there much to write about Les Gold that isn't in this article? My suggestion would be to work up structure for comment. FlatOut 11:34, 16 May 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for your comment. He has a book coming out and seems to be branching out into public speaking. In addition, it seems odd to me that so much BLP info is included in a an article nominally about a TV show. Woz2 (talk) 22:58, 17 May 2013 (UTC)
I split out the BLP content into a separate article. Feel free to remove any duplicated Gold-specific BLP info here. Cheers! Woz2 (talk) 15:00, 7 July 2013 (UTC)

Sections and articles on Les, Seth, and Ashley

I believe this article should have a section on Les and Seth Gold and Ashley Broad, as well as a separate article on these three characters. DDear99 (talk) 00:43, 7 May 2013 (UTC)

I contributed a separate Les Gold article because he is now a published author. I don't know whether or not the children are sufficiently notable (WP:NOTABLE) to warrant their own articles. Do you have reliable sources (WP:RS) that would point to notability for them? Thanks! Woz2 (talk) 21:43, 7 July 2013 (UTC)
