Harisu's albums[edit]

She said that in an interview, that because of people's prejudice against her, she has not done well in singing. As for the album totals, they are for the month of release because her albums were never strong enough to sell past it. If you look at the months afterwards, they do not appear in the chart, suggesting sales of less than 1000 copies for that month. Go look at MIAK's website. SKS2K6 22:55, 19 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'd be grateful if you could point me in the direction of that interview. :)
Regarding album sales, people obviously don't stop buying an album just because it is no longer in the charts! For example, her first album may have sold a significant number of copies since October 2001 (or then again, perhaps not) - the point is we don't know, that's why I felt it necessary that the article makes it clear exactly what those figures are. As for her third and fifth albums, I'm not sure how you can justifiably say that they didn't chart, since the MIAK site only covers the top 50 spots. Particuarly so for her most recent album, as the data on that site (at least so far as I can tell) only goes as far as February 2006. PC78 16:04, 20 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm looking for that interview. It was on some variety show, and I remember reading it somewhere on soompi. As for album sales, yes, it only covers the top 50 spots. But if they don't show up on the MIAK chart, it means that it sold dismally (around a thousand copies). You can't say that Harisu would have sold a thousand copies of her first album each month since it was released. Harisu is just not that popular in Korea as a musical artist; the lack of sales, coupled with the lack of gayo performances, show it. She's more popular internationally than she is at home. SKS2K6 17:49, 20 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Gayo performances?? My point was that those figures only cover the first month or so of the albums release, therefore they do not represent an up to date account of her total album sales. I simply requested that you make that more clear in the article, and I appreciate that you have done so. :) I'm not trying to debate her level of success in Korea, although five albums over five years suggests (to me) that she's not doing that badly. PC78 20:57, 20 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Gayo performances: The performances on the various Korean TV music shows, which are used as a measure of popularity. That, along with Internet buzz and album sales, are used to measure a music group or singer's popularity. You're right; the numbers don't represent up-to-date numbers, but they're pretty darn close. As for her releasing five albums...as long as Harisu is still famous or notorious and still in the public eye, she can still release albums. Shim Mina's still in music. SKS2K6 22:41, 20 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, thanks for that. I'd just never heard the term before. PC78 07:51, 21 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Harisu to marry boyfriend[edit]

I've changed the wording on this a bit. So far as I can tell there has been no official statement from Harisu regarding her plans to marry, and the story in general seems to be a little lacking in substance. Until more detailed information is forthcoming, I think the wording here needs to be more cautious. There is another news article for this story here. PC78 16:23, 20 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Rewrite of text[edit]

I've been working on this text in my userspace for some time, in an effort to hopefully get this article up to GA standards. It still needs a bit of work, but any crits or comments would be welcomed. For those who are interested, I've listed this article over at WP:RFF. PC78 16:17, 28 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Successful good article nomination[edit]

I am glad to say that this article which was nominated for good article status has succeeded. This is how the article, as of July 11, 2007, compares against the six good article criteria:

1. Well written?:
  • Yes.
2. Factually accurate?:
  • The phrase "rumours of health problems were unfounded" seems incongruous, if they are just rumors, and not mentioned in any reliable source, they should not be mentioned in Wikipedia. If however they are notable, this needs a reliable source for the rumors. Probably best to just delete it.
3. Broad in coverage?:
  • Yes
4. Neutral point of view?:
  • Yes
5. Article stability?
  • Yes
6. Images?:
  • Valid free use criteria for all images.

If you feel that this review is in error, feel free to take it to a GA review. Thank you to all of the editors who worked hard to bring it to this status. Tim Vickers 23:04, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I belive the article is now sufficiently compliant to mainatian GA status. Jezhotwells (talk) 10:12, 24 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment: A few of the dead links will be hard to replace. MIAK, the Korean equivalent of the RIAA, closed their site a few months ago, and there has been no real replacement. So there is no online archive of album sales at present. Also, if I remember correctly, Harisu actually hasn't done much outside of additional surgical procedures that have gotten her in the public eye. That may be why the article feels outdated.... However, I don't follow Harisu closely, and I could be wrong about that. :P SKS (talk) 22:39, 13 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Well if there are no sources for album sales then that information will have to removed. If the artist is inactive then that answers my queries about updates. Jezhotwells (talk) 01:46, 14 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Hmmm, that's a bugger if those links can't be replaced. :( Would that be enough to fail the article? I'd be willing to take care of any updates, but if it's going to fail anyway—either through unreferenced sales figues or the removal of that information—then I don't need to trouble myself with any deadlines... PC78 (talk) 13:59, 17 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Leave the dead links in place but put a note in the reference to teh effect that the information was verified on the access date, the site has now been taken down and no archive copy is to be found. Jezhotwells (talk) 14:35, 17 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'll see about those updates then, though SKS2K6 is more or less correct that she hasn't done much in the last two or three years. Any chance you can keep it on hold until Monday? I may not have time for it until the weekend. PC78 (talk) 23:30, 17 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I will take a look on 24 February and decide then. Jezhotwells (talk) 23:24, 19 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Right, sorry it took me a little longer than intended. I've scoured the net and didn't find a great deal to add, but I've included what there was so the article is now up to date, and I've added a note to the dead link refs as suggested. Hopefully that takes care of all concerns, but let me know if there's anything else and I'll take another look later today. Cheers! PC78 (talk) 01:36, 24 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
