Middle name

[edit]

The Guardian gives his middle name as George, yet the official notice of his Military Medal says Gordon, as do these records at The National Archives. I've emailed the Readers' Editor at the Guardian to try and establish where the erro lies. David Underdown (talk) 18:33, 21 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well spotted. Normally I would simply say typial Guardian. But they brought in Morton towerite the obit and he is something of an expert. Let's see what comes back.--Peter cohen (talk) 20:58, 21 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Here's another Gordon [1]
I've found more examples of Gordon in The Times archives, an further National Archives documents. David Underdown (talk) 10:06, 22 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Citation

[edit]

We may be on slightly dodgy ground including the whole citaton - I suspect it may still be Crown Copyright. Had it been published with the announcement in the London GAzette we'd be fine, as on published works the copyright is only for 50 years, but the only place I've found it is in digitised records at The National Archives which are still Crown Copyright (not quite sure on what basis The Times included it to be honest). Maybe we can ask at a copyright page. I'll try to identify which one.--Peter cohen (talk) 11:24, 22 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Now asked at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions where general queries seem to be redirected.--Peter cohen (talk) 11:49, 22 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
