name of article

[edit]

I renamed the article from "Harpers Ferry (Amtrak station)" to "Harpers Ferry Train Station" to use the proper noun name which is documented for the station in the Harpers Ferry Historic District NRHP document. My understanding of railroad station name policy is that proper noun names, where available, are preferred, and there currently are no references in the article supporting any other proper noun name. If anyone objects, please comment, and/or start a formal wp:RM process to attract attention for a rename proposal. doncram (talk) 08:25, 22 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The page has been moved from its offical name ...not sure why....but should be moved back. --Moxy (talk) 22:42, 19 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
As I made the move, I'll step up to the plate here. 'Train station' is an informal term, so it should generally not be used as part of a Wikipedia entry title as I understand it. The probable exception would be where the railroad operator had nevertheless opted to employ the term as part of a brand name - if it's in the IP, we kind of have to respect it, even if it makes for lousy English! Is there any available evidence that Amtrak have indeed registered the name of the station in that form?Garibaldi do Biscotti (talk) 07:48, 20 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
The title of the article should be what people will search for (most common name) Harpers Ferry Center and is also what other sites use trip advisor -- Moxy (talk) 12:30, 20 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
