Harry AllanHarry Allan (disambiguation)Harry Howard Barton Allan was, according to his Dictionary of New Zealand Biography entry, known as Harry Allan. He is also the only blue-linked entry on this dab page. I'd like to have the dab page moved so that the article can take its name. – Schwede66 23:58, 30 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This is a contested technical request (permalink). Anthony Appleyard (talk) 06:14, 1 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Schwede66: Harry Allan as disambig page also points to 3 much better populated disambig pages about similar names. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 06:14, 1 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose Harry Allan (botanist) would be a better title for the botanist, too many variants with this surname. Harry Allan (physicist) seems to not be mentioned on en.wikipedia. In ictu oculi (talk) 09:11, 1 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support - and also Move Harry Howard Barton Allan to Harry Allan- I think this move request is probably incorrectly set up, as there are two pages to move. If the editor who created the article about the botanist had followed Wikipedia's rules they'd have put the article at "Harry Allan" because there is no suggestion that he was commonly known as anything else (with redirect from full form, of course). The dab page is useful, with its links to variations, and should be linked by a hatnote from the botanist's article. If we had an article for the physicist, and if he appeared of the same order of notability as the botanist, I'd oppose the move of the dab page and support moving the botanist to "... (botanist)". • Support and Move Harry Howard Barton Allan to Harry Allan, two-dab situation with a clear promary topic and the other entry is a redlink: easy call. A Template:Distinguish on the top of the article is eventually enough to list and disambiguate the similar (but different) names. Cavarrone 11:21, 2 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
