Just reading the pages about the Pollock Incident.

The Hunter, along with three others from 1 Squadron, was visiting RAF Tangmere in Sussex for an overnight stay and already had performed a flypast over the city of Chichester. They then turned for a beat-up of the Goodwood airfield where a former RAF pilot, Peter Philips was airfield manager. A short aerobatics display then followed over the airfoeld and the team landed. As the four-ship team taxyed in, all pilots donned their straw boaters - apparently a long held custom and the team shut down their charges and went off to the officer's mess.

I was at Tangmere that day and there was a rumour that "...tomorrow, they are going to do something rather daring..." This deed was for one of the aircraft to fly through Tower Bridge and this was reported on the BBC news at midday.

Very fond of the Hunter, this incident I have regailed at many dinner parties but I am sure that not many people believe me. It is great to see the report on it.

single seater variant

[edit]

Must we constantly have this unrepresentative example of the hunter paraded around despite being clearly inappropriate for the article? This incident involved a single seater variant, of which many good photographs exist. Why do we have to have the dual seater survivor in this page? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.242.56.97 (talk) 03:16, 30 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I've used the only RAF FGA.9 image we have at the start of the article. I think it's nice to have an image of the Hunter in flight (it's a fantastic and loud aircraft) so I've kept the other image too, but noted it's a trainer and moved it down the page, hope that's OK. "Beaten up"

[edit]

This is mentioned twice in the article... that he had "beaten up" an airfield or RAF facility. Perhaps we could add a small note within the article text explaining what "beaten up" means... ? - theWOLFchild 00:52, 3 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
