Notability

[edit]

This piece of software was just featured on a BBC 2 (millions of viewers) documentary. The reason for this being that the software was used during the 2009 Iranian protests to circumvent censorship of Twitter. Searching for references. - ARC GrittTALK 00:19, 9 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Newsweek: Needles in a Haystack

[edit]

A Newsweek article [1] provides background on the origins of Haystack software. Austin Heap is credited with creating the software in response to the Iranian government's supression of cyber dissidents.

hey, dont redlink it here, redlink it in the article, silly. oh and dont add refs here.Mercurywoodrose (talk) 04:28, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The Newsweek article is probably entirely useless. They clearly did not do well enough in checking their facts. In fact, it should probably be removed as a citation since it has been proven to be a poor source of information and many of Austin's claims about Haystack have been discredited.G8briel (talk) 06:34, 21 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Other Haystack software

[edit]

This page should be converted to a disambiguation page. There are at least two other notable software systems called haystack:
