2 Hector McNeils[edit]

There were two individuals called Hector McNeil who were Labour Councillors in Glasgow at about the same time and this seems to be causing some confusion. I think the Galloway and Kelvingrove candidate referenced in Craig was the elder, who is not the subject of this article. The Times House of Commons 1929 states the Hector McNeil who stood in Galloway had been a Councillor for four years so was elected in 1925 - Hector McNeil who became the Scottish Secretary would have been 18 at that time, and ineligible to stand for office. From the Times House of Commons entries in 129, 1931 and 1935 the other was President of the Glasgow Trades Council - I am unsure if the subject of this article was.
