country, region, or territory, where the person is currently a citizen, national, or permanent resident
. And since Watenpaugh got her BA, MA, and PhD at a US university and has subsequently worked full-time in the US for the past few decades (as is sourced in the article), I think this can fit in practice. - It is Lebanon, but I didn't name it in
Her ancestors moved to the country
when writing the article because it's redundant to the previous sentenceWatenpaugh, an ethnic Armenian, was born in Beirut, the capital and largest city of Lebanon.
