First recording
[edit]"It was first recorded by Byron G. Harlan and released in July 1901," as per article.
It is true that Byron Harlan recorded it within 1901, as an Edison cylinder. The link here goes to a Victor recording Harlan made in 1913. But Harlan was just one among six singers that recorded "Hello Central! Give Me Heaven" in 1901, when it was first published. The others were George J. Gaskin, J.W. Myers, Harry MacDonough, Edward M. Favor and a duet recording by John Bieling and Steve Porter. We only have an exact date for the last one, and I think it's impossible to declare any one of them "first."
