Suggested edit[edit]

I just wanted to suggest an edit, and apologies if I'm going about this the wrong way, as I'm not particularly au fait with editing on Wikipedia. However, the photo on this page that purports to be a picture of Helophilus hybridus is actually a male Helophilus pendulus. As it correctly states in the description of this species, in Helophilus hybridus males, the yellow sides to tergite 2 reach the hind margin of the tergite. However, in the fly pictured in the photo, the hind margins of tergite 2 are black, as is the case in Helophilus pendulus.

I initially contacted the photographer to flag this issue, and he agreed that the photo was misidentified on this page but said he was unable to make the change himself. If a photo of Helophilus hybridus is required, I do have a photo of a female Helophilus hybridus that I would be willing to contribute, just let me know how to go about contributing it.

Thanks!
