Summaries of the article: Heme Oxygenase-1 Drives Metaflammation and Insulin Resistance in Mouse and Man. Cell, 2014; 158 (1): 25 DOI: 10.1016/j.cell.2014.04.043 indicate that those with high levels of the enzyme are more likely to become diabetic, and suggest chronic infection after immunosuppression as a possible cause.
