Two sorts of Hemiepiphytes?

[edit]

The article says that hemiepiphytes are trees that begin life as epiphytes--growing up in other trees without actually deriving sustenance from them--and then grow roots down and later become free-standing trees rooted in the ground.

But the article on Philodendron distinguishes between species within that genus that are primary or secondary hemiepiphytes. The primary hemiepiphytes grow as this article describes. But the secondary ones begin as rooted plants, then send runners up trees.

I wonder if some qualified person would care to clarify that in this article. I don't feel I should. 140.147.236.195 (talk) 21:38, 6 December 2011 (UTC)Stephen Kosciesza[reply]
