[edit]Added that he has 2 brothers and 2 sisters. George is probably the most well know, other than Henry. His other brother Romulo was fined $7000 by the state of Texas for callinghimself a registered architect when he wasn't. He did eventually register and is now a registered architect in Houston. This is not a BLP violation because here is the source. http://www.tbae.state.tx.us/documents/NewsletterVol3Iss1.pdf See page 7. This is too bad because Romulo is a good architect and has worked on well known projects. Spevw (talk) 21:57, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
American Political Scandals
[edit]I disagree with removing the catagory American Political Scandals. While Cisneros has many notible positive achivements he has been a politician and and been involved in scandals. What do you do next - remove all of the mentions of his payments controversy and mentions of his mistress. Did Clinton's pardon extend to Wikipedia? Starrymessenger (talk) 11:59, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
First Hispanic Mayor
[edit]In no means was Cisneros the "first" Hispanic mayor of a city in the U.S. He wasn't even the first in San Antonio, that credit goes to Juan Seguín. Yes, Alfonso Cervantes of St. Louis, Missouri, 1965-1973, was the first Hispanic mayor of his town. The key in the descriptive phrase of "first Hispanic mayor of a major U.S. city" is the word MAJOR. San Antonio is a top ten populated city in the U.S. (7th currently, 10th at the time of Cisneros' election), whereas St. Louis Missouri is not widely considered to be "major" with a population ranking of 52 in the last census. according to the 1960 census saint louis mo was number 10 so is that not major? the guy was elected in 1965 so? plus as a metro area saint louis as of 2010 has about a million more residents than san antonio.See List of United States cities by population. Missing citation re: Presidency
[edit]Unable to find citation/reference to long standing statement in article and thus moved it here. It is:
In a Spanish-language interview published during the 1980s in El Diario newspaper in the border town Piedras Negras, Cisneros declared that he wanted to be President of the United States.[citation needed]
--CAbeachgal 03:28, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
Expanded copy
[edit]Most likely sometime this week, 31 January 2010 - 6 February 2010 PST, I will be uploading large amounts of expanded copy. Cisneros did indeed have a scandal involving an affair, like many politicians. However, the article is predominantly about the affair with little of his career history and accomplishments, of which there are many. After research based on references/citations, much more will be added to his article. --CAbeachgal 03:36, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
NBA
[edit]I remember hearing once, that Mr. Cisneros was president of the National Bar Assocoation. Am I mistaken?Mk5384 (talk) 07:31, 4 March 2010 (UTC)
Lacking In Objectivity
[edit]This article sounds like a fan page, not an objective article worthy of an encyclopedia. I checked, and much of the source came from his personal webpage. The article contains multiple peacock terms and should be given a MAJOR editing. The man isn't a Saint, after all, but a mere public servant (and NOT the first Hispanic mayor of San Antonio!) with the usual share of flaws.207.62.81.2 (talk) 22:10, 16 March 2010 (UTC)
- It seems a bit odd that you took the time to read this article, read Mr. Cisneros' webpage, and post a comment here, and yet did nothing to improve the atricle that you think needs "major editing".Mk5384 (talk) 07:55, 19 March 2010 (UTC)
- Mk, why don't you fix it? Some of us read articles for the sake of reading, and not to waste an hour fixing them. Griffinofwales (talk) 18:11, 18 May 2010 (UTC)
- Are you trying to get Wikipedia denounced to attackwatch.com? We have a duty to respect progressive reality rewrites, objectivity is doubleplus ungood! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 4.230.141.74 (talk) 09:05, 28 November 2011 (UTC)
Pro-Cisneros slant?
[edit]Is it just me or is this article written in a pro-Cisneros way? Griffinofwales (talk) 18:10, 18 May 2010 (UTC)
Something fishy about his family history:
[edit]His grandfather fled Mexico in 1926 to escape Porfirio Diaz? Diaz went into exile in France in 1911 and died in 1915. Qué ignorancia. The Mexican revolution was pretty much over by 1920. So why was he fleeing in 1926, and from whom? Alvaro Obregón? Plutarco Elías Calles? Who writes this stuff? If this reflects the standard of accuracy for the rest of this fluff piece, Wikipedia is in serious trouble. La Lydia (talk) 14:06, 23 June 2010 (UTC) La Lydia
