GA Review

[edit]

Hi, I will be reviewing this article for GA. Looking through it, the article seems very good. I will be adding comments. Please feel free to ask me any questions. —Mattisse (Talk) 17:05, 5 September 2008 (UTC) Some small prose issues:[reply]

  • Avoid having any footnotes in the lead, if possible.
  • Also, in the lead, I think you should put the date (2008) his record was equalled, e.g. it was equalled by cyclist Chris Hoy in 2008 (or whenever).
Good point, done. Nev1 (talk) 21:11, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • "train in the canal too" - train in the canal also
Well, you've taken care of that. Nev1 (talk) 21:11, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • "in each of the three events he took part in" - in each of the three events in which he took part:

  • "kept fit by swimming round" - keep fit by swimming around
Doesn't that change the tense of the verb to present? The rest of the sentence is in past tense and it just wouldn't work. Nev1 (talk) 21:11, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry! I meant "kept fit by swimming around"! I'll fix it. —Mattisse (Talk) 21:42, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • There are a few places that need commas - I have stuck a couple in.

*I am unsure of the status of Image:Henry Taylor in British swimming colours.jpg. It seems like it must be PD but is not clearly labeled as such.

  • "At the age of 7 Taylor swam his first race" - swam in his first race.
Done. Nev1 (talk) 21:11, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • All references should be in the same format. It seems like reference #7 is not in cite web as the others are.
I think they are, they all use the cite web template. Nev1 (talk) 21:11, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
