Speedy deletion
[edit]Why is this speedied? The man won the Medal of Honor for his actions - that makes him notable enough, I should think. --User:AlbertHerring Io son l'orecchio e tu la bocca: parla! 19:19, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you, I agree. By (part of) the very definition given "importance or significance", winning the Medal of Honor in such a significant battle as Heartbreak Ridge justifies it's presence here. Heck, winning the Medal of Honor alone is enough significance or importance. By the way, I am currently going through all of the Korean War MOH winners that have red links and creating pages for them. They all deserve it and their contributions are significant and important. wbfergus 19:23, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
- I agree. It's not like we are talking about the Good Conduct Medal here. I think that Pvt. Pililaau should have an article as much as SFC Paul Ray Smith has one. --rogerd 19:41, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
- Perhaps this should speedy nom should be changed to a standard article for deletion nom so the community can discuss it. --rogerd 19:42, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
- Good idea Roger. The reasons I'm creating pages for the red linked MOH winners are 1.) evidently the person either has no living descendants to create a full blown bio (like several of the others have) or their descendants have no idea this exists; 2.) It would be really nice someday to have enough information available and cross-linked to give a better picture of the ferocity of the fighting in the various battles and where they were. wbfergus 19:50, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
- Perhaps this should speedy nom should be changed to a standard article for deletion nom so the community can discuss it. --rogerd 19:42, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
USNS PILILAAU
[edit]It may be worth mentioning that the USNS Pililaau (T-AKR 304) was named after Herbet K. Pililaau. Here is some info about the ship: http://www.msc.navy.mil/inventory/ships.asp?ship=pililaau&type=LMSR —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.196.175.100 (talk) 14:20, 11 September 2009 (UTC)
- I just finished a major expansion of the article and included a bit about the ship. — jwillbur 21:11, 14 September 2009 (UTC)
Heartbreak Ridge movie
[edit]If you look at the MOHs awarded for the timeframe of the real Battle of Heartbreak Ridge, see List of Korean War Medal of Honor recipients, the only person who was in the Army's 23rd Infantry Regiment was Herbert K. Pililaau. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:8805:5800:AD00:9C9D:6AB3:CBF8:A317 (talk) 02:12, 15 August 2016 (UTC)
