PINK PANTHER BASELINE

[edit]

I met Herbie in the 1990s when he was doing a one man show at the Edinburgh Festival. He told me he was never credited with the famous Pink Panther baseline which he demonstrated to Henry Mancini in a session. All he received was a £20 session fee! 51.6.139.112 (talk) 20:50, 4 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Death

[edit]

There have been recent reports that Flowers has died. Does anyone have any WP:RS sources that support this claim? Many thanks. Martinevans123 (talk) 21:37, 7 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I have now added two sources. But better ones may become available. There's is also a report in the Daily Mail here, but we can't use that. Martinevans123 (talk) 07:42, 8 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yup. With any luck a reputable British newspaper (The Times, Gruniard, etc.) will carry a proper obituary in a day or two. Most of it nicked from this article in all likelihood ! - Derek R Bullamore (talk) 21:46, 8 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
We do already have Mark Brown in The Grauniad and here now is Rolling Stone at last. Martinevans123 (talk) 21:56, 8 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I've added NME, but it looks a bit like this article? Martinevans123 (talk) 07:14, 9 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sources for recordings

[edit]

Inevitably, someone at WP:ITN/RD has requested "better referencing" of his solo recordings. These are proving problematic, particularly the singles, as discogs.com is not permitted. Some commercial sources are available e.g. eBay, etc. Martinevans123 (talk) 12:51, 9 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This is always a problem. Discogs, 45cat, 45world, Whosampled (yes, I know), even in some cases applicable IMDb too, are all no-goers, and commercial sites are frowned upon. Is there anything at ASCAP or BMI ? The powers that be should try finding references for all the cases they call out ! - Derek R Bullamore (talk) 16:38, 9 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
They may have to be "commented out" to make the article look pretty when linked on main page. Yes, commercial sites are frowned upon, but they at least show these records haven't been invented. Although I'm really not sure why anyone would want to invent any records anyway... Martinevans123 (talk) 16:50, 9 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
