Heriades is a common bee genus in the family Megachilidae, the leafcutting bees. Of the Osmini, they are distinctive in that their abdomens are often curled under theselves. There are 3 spp. native to the Eastern US, but European spp. including H. truncatum are found in the Eastern US now.

Heriades use nests excavated by other insects such as beetles in wood or even pine cones, and divide nest cells with resins they collect. Muniche (talk) 18:47, 3 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
