How are they, history-wise?

[edit]

Is there any critical assessements of the things? I was watching the Atila one yesterday, it semed well made for me. Albeit some peoples seem to criticise the BBC for 'whitening' ATila. (Albeit in this case, the Huns may not be asians, or not anymore, mixed... maybe?) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.203.134.130 (talk) 00:13, 17 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

USA/Canada DVD release as "Warriors"

[edit]

My local public library has a three disc set:

  • Warriors / Disc One
  • Warriors / Disc Two
  • Warriors / Disc Three, Special Features. It's on worldcat at OCLC 421170618.
  • The ISBN for the set is ISBN 1-4198-7518-3 / 1419875183

The first two discs match what is described for the DVD release of Heroes and Villains (TV series). The third disc has three features:

The jackets and DVDs say BBC Video and the back of the jackets have "Distributed in the USA and Canada by Warner Home Video..."

Ideally we track down a news/pr announcement about the set. It was released in 2009. --Marc Kupper|talk 07:58, 12 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Showing in 2013

[edit]

On August 13, 2013 an editor added:

This version was then aired as "new" series on The History Channel's H2 in the US and UK in 2013.

I believe the editor saw episodes from Warriors (2009 TV series) which is a different series that covers very similar content as Heroes and Villains. I confused the two shows when I first saw the Warriors DVDs as the DVDs have 2009 copyrights, never mention the Heroes and Villains series name, and never mention the original air dates. I did a scan of http://www.history.com/schedule for 2013 and found the following "Warriors" episodes. All of them are from the Warriors (2009 TV series). The times in the table below are Pacific Time.

First showing Second showing Program
Sat Mar 30, 8:00 AM Sun Mar 31, 1:00 AM Warriors: Zulu Siege
Tue Apr 16, 8:00 PM Wed Apr 17, 12:00 AM Warriors: Viking Terror
Sat May 18, 4:00 AM Sun May 19, 1:00 AM Warriors: Barbarian Massacre
Sun May 19, 4:00 AM Mon May 20, 1:00 AM Warriors: Knight Fight
Sat Aug 31, 4:00 AM Sun Sep 1, 1:00 AM Warriors: Zulu Siege
Sun Sep 1, 4:00 AM Mon Sep 2, 1:00 AM Warriors: Maya Armageddon

On Fri March 15, 11:02 PM and Sat March 16, 3:03 AM they showed something called I Love the 1880s: Heroes and Villains which is another show. --Marc Kupper|talk 17:57, 12 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It's definitely the Heroes And Villains series - I have the DVD set as well, and it's the exact same episodes, which were trailed as a brand new series on H2. Lonemagpie (talk) 19:58, 12 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
