Titles from birth until marriage?[edit]

Why would Hester Pitt (née Grenville), Countess of Chatham, have been entitled to the style "Lady" Hester Grenville from birth? At the time of her birth (8 November 1720), both her father and her mother were commoners.

I think her titles from birth until marriage are more correctly given as:

8 November 1720 - 13 September 1749; Miss Hester Grenville

On 13 September 1749 her mother succeeded to her brother's viscountcy and barony, and thus:

13 September 1749 - 18 October 1749; the Hon. Miss Hester Grenville

On 18 October 1749 her mother was created 1st Countess Temple, and thus:

18 October 1749 - 16 November 1754; Lady Hester Grenville

On 16 November 1754 she married William Pitt the Elder and thus became Lady Hester Pitt.
