erroneous Celsius to Fahrenheit
[edit]Fahrenheit is not twice that of Celsius. it is much greater. I removed the conversion, but since the number was so wrong, I think this throws the whole fact into question. Can somebody produce a citation for the tempratrue changes? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.23.251.12 (talk) 19:37, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
Temperature Swings
[edit]Temperature swings are calculated differently than absolute temperatures. When converting an absolute temperature from F to C, the forumla is (F-32)*5/9. Check: 212F = 100C, (212-32)*5/9 = 180*5/9 = 100. However, a temperature swing is different. If the temperature in F swings from 40 to 90, we have a 50 degree swing (90-40=50). If we convert the absolute temperatures from F to C, we get a range of 4 to 32 degrees C. The swing there is 32-4, or 28 degrees C. If you just convert the 50 degree F swing to C, you get 10C, which is rather... off. If you work through the math, you could see that the operation subtracting 32 from F gets canceled. --Jomegat (talk) 03:49, 16 December 2008 (UTC)
